Tarko Sibbel
Tarko Sibbel has played the saxophone for over 30 years. He completed his Bachelor of Music (Hons.) at the University of Melbourne and as a recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award completed his Masters of Music Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006/7. Throughout his studies, he has always been passionate about the origins and earliest intentions of the instrument, as well as exploring the unique flexibility and opportunity for individual expression that the saxophone provides. Tarko has performed in wide range of ensembles and genres including professional orchestras, opera, big bands, jazz ensembles, hip-hop and reggae groups, including as a session musician for the ABC Music and Sony Music labels. Tarko has performed live on radio and television, and continues to play in a number of contemporary groups around Melbourne. He is a passionate educator having taught in numerous primary, secondary and tertiary settings. Tarko feels very fortunate to continue to have the opportunity to explore the instrument and to share and learn from the next generations of inspiring musicians.
